Something completely unanticipated happened last month.
As I was in the final stages of a business launch I’ve been working on for the past year, I made the decision to terminate said launch, step away from my legal career, and move fully into a life that has been calling me for years. (You can read more about this decision here!)
This is why . . .
The back-story . . . .
In 2023, I walked away from an 18-year career as a successful attorney at a large, national law firm to start my own firm.
At that time, I was making multiple six figures working in the so-called dream job, and I relinquished all of it (the money, the title, the security, the prestige) to create a life and career I actually love.
But if you were to tell me in 2023 I would be where I am now, I would not believe you. The person I was then could not imagine doing what I did last month—relinquishing a 20-year law career for a creative life and abandoning a solid identity as a “badass female attorney” for a far less defined career as a writer, community builder, and women’s studies/writing teacher.
But I did exactly that. And no one is more surprised than me.
In February 2025, I finally realized that not only is living a full-on creative life possible for women like me (stuck in a career that no longer aligns but feels inescapable)—it’s the only life I want. So, I burned everything else down to live it fully.
I don’t tell you this to project exceptional bravery or portray what some would dub a mid-life crisis as a revolution. The truth is, neither courage nor novelty factored into this decision. It just became painfully clear that living any other life or pursuing any other business was impossible. I simply could not do it.
It just became painfully clear that living any other life or pursuing any other business was impossible. I simply could not do it.
Since I got sober in 2019, I’ve been on a journey to figure out who I actually am. And the more I find out about myself, the less tolerant I am of remaining in jobs, relationships, or places that do not align with what I discover. And while I can only see a few steps ahead of where I am now, I know precisely why and how this quantum speed transformation occurred.
It was a direct result of three things:
1. The Study: In 2019, I began immersing myself in the stories of the most powerful female artists and leaders of all time. I studied them; I read their books; I watched their movies; I attended classes about them. While writing my first memoir, I anthologized thousands of pages of their work—Maya Angelou, Beyonce, Andre Lorde, Lady GaGa, Frida Kahlo, Marilyn Monroe, and so many others. I survived on the stories of these creative muses as I wrote. I let the power and beauty and wisdom of their work soak into my skin until they became a part of me. In essence, I studied the most powerful creative muses that ever lived to become the muse I needed for my own work. This immersion in the work of the most iconic, powerful women who ever lived is central to my work. I also believe it’s required reading for any woman called to a powerful, world-changing life.
2. The Structure: I wrote a full book in four months while working a full-time job, being a mom, launching an online business, traveling a ton, and teaching dance fitness. And I am not superhuman. I did not set out to crack any codes. I just reached for what I needed. And what I did not find, I created for myself. I crafted a clear plan and corresponding calendar for not only writing and organizing my book, but ensuring that the support I needed to create was prioritized (such as expansive, inspiring podcasts, trainings & technique classes, breathwork sessions, yoga and meditation sessions, creator playlists, and so many more . . . ). I then created a flexible, judgment-free schedule for overcoming perfectionism and actually getting my art into the world. And then I followed it. This structure became the foundational method I needed to manifest my creative work.
3. The Community: I surrounded myself with powerful women who are going all-in on their creativity and dreams (I’m talking high-vibe, high-quality, low ego kinds of women—the “these are my people” kind of women). I needed the support of kindred spirits to share work, compare notes, hold each other up on bad days, and hold each other accountable even on the good ones. Because the voices of powerful women are needed now more than ever, the work of women supporting one another is also needed more than ever. I simply do not believe any woman can walk in her full power without sisterhood.
Every single one of these (Muse Immersion, Structure, and Community) were indispensable to my transformation from law firm employee to self-employed creative. If any one of these elements was missing, I would not be here.
💫 I would still be selling my time in 6 minute increments and dreading a future chained to my chosen profession.
💫 I would still be following the rules in lockstep with my education, internal and external expectations, and the career choices made over 20 years ago.
💫 I would still be restless, lonely, and miserable holding the weight of an untold story inside and not having the resources, clarity, or community I needed to get it out.
And because there is no online class or program like the one I needed to make this life a reality, I created it. And not just for me. For us.
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, I will be introducing you to this (yet-to-be-named) program and teaching my first class! I would love to have you there as my guest. No charge, just click below to register! 😘
Here’s what you can expect from class . . .
The April 12 class is a 90-minute creative activation session for women who are ready to grow and create within aligned community.
✅ Creative Immersion
Drawing inspiration from an iconic, powerful female creative muse (think Maya Angelou, Beyoncé, Anais Nin, Madonna…), I will teach about what is possible when women decide to create, write, speak, and lead from the soul. In essence, we study the most powerful women who ever lived to become the most powerful women who ever lived.
✅ Real Talk + Soul Fire
I'll share the story of how I went from being a burned-out employee to writing a best-selling book, running a business, and now walking away from a 20-year legal career to follow my creative calling.
✅ Guided Journaling + Reflection
During the class, you’ll move through thoughtfully crafted prompts to unlock your creative soul and access your voice, intuition, and vision.
While this is just a a taste of what’s to come in the launch of the creative accelerator program, this class will reignite your artistic fire, connect you with women like you, and give you the structure you need to finally make space for your soul’s real work.
This class is my gift to you! Just add the event to your calendar, bring paper & pen, and I’ll see you there!
All my love, Beth
